Following the announcement that present KL.FM Managing Director, Pam Lawton, is to be promoted to the new group role of Head of Sales Development and Training, UKRD has announced further changes to its station management team.

Leaving the groups Cambridge based station, Star Radio, its present Managing Director, Darren Taylor, will take over the reins at KL.FM and will be replaced as Managing Director by Mark Peters, the stations present Programme Controller.

Group Chief Executive Officer, William Rogers, confirmed the changes to all staff after making the announcement to the teams of both stations in person and congratulated both men on their appointments.

“Star Radio has made real progress under Darren’s leadership and this move is a great opportunity for him to take the reins of a larger, highly successful and profitable station and move it on to another level,” said Rogers. “The promotion of Mark Peters from Programme Controller to Managing Director confirms our approach as a company to developing people internally and shows that whatever role you may perform, whether it be sales or programming, you can take the helm of one of our stations as Managing Director.”

Darren Taylor confirmed that he would be taking over the running of the Kings Lynn based station in the run up to October and was looking forward to working with “the great team of people” based there. “It’s a station that already does well,” he said, “and my challenge is to see how much more we can achieve.”

In thanking Darren for all he had done for the station in Cambridge, Mark Peters wished him well and also confirmed that he was personally “buzzing with ideas and excitement” about the challenge ahead. “It says a lot about the kind of company that UKRD is that not only are we all given the opportunity to develop our careers within the organisation but that whatever role you perform, there is going to be a chance at some point, to take on a senior management job. I am so thrilled,” he said.
