Local commercial radio operator, UKRD, has announced that its recently appointed Group Programme Director, Dave Coull, has had his title changed to that of Group Content Director with immediate effect, with his deputy, Peter Gordon, becoming Deputy Group Content Director. The title changes “reflect new realities and broaden roles to encompass all content delivered by the groups portfolio of businesses,” said group Chief Executive, William Rogers.

“We now operate in an increasingly digital world where multi-layered content is the order of the day and our stations are becoming much more than stand-alone radio operations. This shift in emphasis is a clear indication of our intent to broaden the base of both the product we produce as well as the methods of delivery we deploy in all our markets for both our listeners and advertisers,” said Rogers.

Reflecting upon his new title and the clear shift in emphasis it represented, Dave Coull confirmed that, for him, it was all about the reality of the landscape in which local radio now has to develop. “We are working in an increasingly multi-platform arena and whilst we will continue to do great work as local broadcasters, our role is to produce content and then deliver it in a range of ways that best suits all those who come into contact with our businesses. My challenge is to work with my colleagues to accelerate that approach and so, important though it undoubtedly is, it’s no longer just about what comes out of the speakers.”

This announcement is the first of a number of changes which are being planned by UKRD to re-shape its business for the years ahead.

“These are exciting times for us and we are now completely focussed upon driving our business in the direction of travel which will maintain its local dominance in the markets in which we operate,” said Rogers.
