Commercial radio operator, UKRD Group, is celebrating the news this week that its Head of Production, Colin McGinness, has been confirmed as a finalist in two categories in the International Radio Program Awards based out of New York.

The two categories, “Information/Documentary” and “Entertainment,” confirm as finalist programmes, a 2015 Armistice Day Tribute and a Review of the Year 2015; both programmes being broadcast in full across the UKRD Group of stations last year.

“These features are about story-telling,” said McGinness. “Be it to make you laugh or cry, the idea is to take the listener on a journey and let them get lost in the story being told.”

UKRD’s Group Content Director, Dave Coull, congratulatedColin on his achievement and reflected that “many groups in the commercial radio sector may well not have played such programmes at all but the quality of what Colin delivers makes the programmes entirely worthy of broadcast and the announcement that he has made it as a finalist in not one, but two categories speaks volumes.”

The final positions will be known in May when the judging has been concluded.
