Over 75 local radio stations have confirmed their participation in Local Radio Day 2017. The day itself, 26th May, brings together radio stations from across the sector to celebrate local radio and the communities it serves and the number taking part is well up on last years’ inaugural event.

Now in its second year, Local Radio Day will once again be supported by the team at Ignite Jingles, which has made available the jingles it produced for last year’s event, whilst confirming they'll also be creating additional, new jingles for this year’s celebration. Chris Stevens, Managing Director of Ignite Jingles, said on confirming his support, "We're delighted to be supporting Local Radio Day again. We already work with many local broadcasters across the UK and beyond and anything that helps fly the flag and promote the essential service local radio provides, is brilliant for the whole industry."

UKRD’s Group Content Director, Dave Coull confirmed that the company’s Group Production Manager, Colin McGinness, has created a special production package for all participating local radio stations to complement the Local Radio Day jingle package “which is great news for those radio stations wanting to add a little extra sparkle to the sound of the day.”

With a little over a fortnight to go until the day itself, there is still time for proper local radio stations to get involved.

William Rogers, UKRD’s Chief Executive said “radio stations from across the sector will be represented on Local Radio Day, from hospital, prison and school radio, to community, commercial and the BBC. All will be celebrating local radio engagement in the areas and communities they are proud to serve and broadcast to. If anyone would like to be involved, go to or e-mail Dave Coull directly”.
